Active Era Paddle Board Review

Active Era Paddle Board Review

As part of their #ActiveSummer campaign, Active Era reached out to us to team up with them for Summer, to review a product and share our adventures in the outdoors. Active Era is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of all things outdoor and fitness, including camping equipment and beach tents. As we already have most of our outdoor gear, we decided to review one of the paddle boards as we’ve been after a new one for a while.

Active Era Paddle Board Review

Our first impressions of the Active Era Paddle Board, is that it comes in a super handy compact bag (smaller than most I’ve seen), the straps are in the perfect position for carrying the board on your back and it has everything you need for a fun day out on the water.

For our first time testing the board, we headed to one of out favourite spots in Snowdonia, North Wales, which is a small river that runs through the valley with the most incredible views of the mountains – the perfect location for a Summer evening SUP and swim watching the sun set.

We chose this location as it’s only a short walk from the car to the water, and we didn’t want to risk carrying the new board / bag a long way for the first time using it. The bag is super easy to carry, as I said, the straps are conveniently placed half way down the bag so the bottom of the bag sits just on your waist – meaning the bulk of the weight will be evenly distributed between your shoulders and back. This is similar to any hiking and camping bag as it helps to prevent back pain.

2-In-1 SUP and Kayak Conversion

We pumped the board up up to 15 psi using the lightweight pump provided with it, attached the fin to the bottom, attached the ankle safety leash and got onto the water. My favourite thing about the Active Era paddle board is that it is a 2-In-1 inflatable SUP and kayak conversion, which is a must for me. It means you have the option to switch between standing up with the normal SUP paddle, or you can attach the comfortable seat to sit down and attach the kayak end of the paddle for faster paddling.

This is a great option for anyone just starting out with paddle boarding, as it help to build up your confidence on the water; you can easily switch between sitting and standing. It’s also great for anyone who loves to take their board out on longer journeys, you can swap and change and have a break if needed sitting down.

The Active Era SUP and kayak conversion kit includes a fully adjustable paddle, and kayak seat with a footrest making it an excellent choice for inexperienced and advanced boarders alike.

Active Era Paddle Board Performance

I have to say, from all the SUP’s that I have had over the years, this is definitely my favourite. We’ve had top of the range boards and budget options, and in terms of performance and easy set up, the Active Era paddle board beats them all. It inflates up really quick using the hand pump, we did try the electric pump on this but found that the pumping it up by hand was actually quicker.

The board is sturdy and stable for standing up, it is both thicker and wider ensuring a rigid structure to help with balance and to easily glide you along the water. The board inflated and deflates super quick, and is lightweight for carrying.
