7 Major Sporting Challenges for 2021: LimeLight sports club

A lot has changed since we were last in touch at the beginning of the year, including Virgin Sport’s acquisition by leading sports marketing group LimeLight Sports.

Virgin Sport’s iconic events (the Hackney Half, ASICS London 10K and Oxford Half) now sit within the LimeLight Sports Club, and they have announced 7 major sporting events for 2021! Covering running, swimming and cycling activities across the UK.

London Duathlon – 25th April 2021

Looking for a new kind of running challenge? The London Duathlon race is the most picturesque run-bike-run challenge event, hosted in the stunning Richmond Park grounds. There are four different distances or events for you to choose from including a half duathlon, full duathlon, ultra-duathlon or a more sociable team challenge, the duathlon relay – perfect for first-time runners!

Hackney Half – 16th May 2021

Celebrate the spirit of Hackney by taking on London’s most vibrant running event, the Hackney Half! A buzzing 13.1 mile route from Hackney Marshes, with DJs and live music at every mile that will bring the beats to keep runners moving across the finish line.

Etape Caledonia – 16 May 2021

Etape Caledonia is the UK’s original closed-road sportive. The Etape Caledonia is usually a sell out event and a popular one amongst riders throughout the UK. The breath taking views along this route are worth travelling for, race through the spectacular Scottish Highlands choosing from two distances – 40-mile route or 85-mile route.

ASICS London 10K25 July 2021

The fast-paced, flat 10km route takes runners on a tour through the best of London’s Westminster, racing past the Capital’s most iconic and historical landmarks such as Big Ben, the London Eye and River Thames. Participants can enjoy live DJ’s, bands and cheering onlookers, aswel as some fantastic post race Summer party celebrations.

London Triathlon7 to 8 August 2021

Every year, thousands of people come to our iconic capital city to join our community of incredible triathletes taking on the challenge of the London Triathlon. Taking place at the Royal Victoria Dock in the ExCel Centre, the event is an urban route where racers can bike, swim and run with views of London’s iconic landmarks.

Blenheim Palace Triathlon11 to 12 September 2021

Move at the UK’s most stunning triathlon set in the beautiful private grounds of Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO world heritage site. Blenheim Palace Triathlon is one of the country’s most iconic races. There is a ballot open for all distances (except Sprint Team Relay).

Oxford Half17 October 2021

The Oxford Half takes place this autumn with plenty of sporting activities, live music and local food. The Oxford Half marathon on Sunday 17th October will see runners speed by world-famous museums, universities, parks and historical streets.

TICKETS: Ballot applications are open now. Successful ballot applicants will be invited to register in April 2021. Tickets – £49 at run.limelightsports.club/oxford.

All 2021 events will comply to strict COVID-secure planning measures to ensure the health and safety of participants. This may include social distancing, staggered arrival times, pre-event health questionnaires and other safety precautions. Further information will be distributed to participants in advance of race day.
