What to look for in a Meal Replacement

Calories

The avarage MRP contains between 200-400 calories, anything below this is unlilely to contain sufficient nutrients to replace an entire meal.

Protein

Always settle for no less than 20g of protein per shake. Protein is the building block of building increased lean mass and can also help curb cravings as it helps reduce hunger.

Fiber

Ensure the shake contains at least 3g of fibre. Fibre also helps keep us feeling fuller for longer and also aids digestion and nutrient absorption.

Sugar

Always looks for MRPs with no more than 12g of sugar per serving, alot of brands will add excess sugar to there shakes for flavour. And as a cheap filler.

Vitamins & Minerals

Make sure the shake you choose contains a good healthy dose of essential nutrients such as vitamins B, C, D, calcium, potassium etc.

Fats

Any MRP worth drinking will contain no more than 15g of fat per serving largely consisting of unsaturated fats and omega-3’s.
