Review: dryrobe Advance ‘the ultimate outdoor changing robe’

Photography by @rachelmulford

Being an avid surfer for the past 20 years, and using cold water therapy for it’s mental and physical benefits, I can see why these robes are so popular!

I have spent countless sessions in freezing conditions, using a damp towel to try and dry myself off and change in a respectful fashion at the same time…

Needless to say that this does not look cool or dignified, not to mention dangerous in sub-zero temperatures.

dryrobe Review: Build Quality

The super warm, synethic lambs wool inner layer is incredible! It wicks moisture away from the skin superbly well. It feels soft and gentle against the skin, and none of the zips or seams caused rubbing against the skin, after two weeks of vigorous testing.

The use of recycled material such as 49% polyester is also a huge selling point for me.

The water and wind-proof outer layer was actually what caught my attention most. The ability to stay dry, warm and wind protected is a massive game changer for anyone participating in cold water sports!

dryrobe Performance

The outer shell held up to some heavy rain, keeping the inner layer completely dry. With so many companies selling sub-par shells that claim to be waterproof, this robe certainly holds its own in a saturated market!

After getting out of a lake soaking wet, this robe had me completely dry after throwing it on and rubbing myself down for no more then 10 seconds!

Once hung out to dry in a well ventilated area, the robe was dry again within the hour. This is another huge selling point for me, as drying towels while living in a van can cause some annoying issues!

While chilling in the van in the evenings, I was using the dryrobe as a dressing gown. Again being super warm and waterproof, it makes bad weather toilet breaks and outdoor washing up a breeze!

Overview

I would highly recommend the dryrobe Advance to anyone looking to get dry and warm quickly after their swim or surf. It really is one of the most valuable pieces of kit you can own as an adventure enthusiast.

I will be taking this everywhere I go, and by the looks of the build, it will live longer then me!
